Juise Box is the Executive Chef at Oaktree Residential, bringing 23 years of professional culinary experience to senior living. What began simply as an opportunity to enter the workforce grew into a career spent developing his skills in professional kitchens and, eventually, finding a different application for that experience in residential care.

After years in restaurants, Juise Box was drawn to senior living by the opportunity to approach food differently. At Oaktree, his philosophy is that moving into residential care shouldn’t mean giving up the experience of eating genuinely good food. He combines restaurant techniques with familiar comfort foods, fresh ingredients, nutritional diversity, and occasional dishes from cuisines around the world—creating meals that remain approachable for residents while still giving them something new to experience.

Juise Box doesn’t have a single favorite dish to prepare. What he enjoys most is taking something familiar and finding ways to make it better, whether through technique, ingredients, presentation, or simply paying attention to the details that can turn an ordinary meal into something memorable.

He chose to participate in this year’s culinary competition for the opportunity to challenge himself, represent Oaktree Residential, and demonstrate the level of food that can come from a senior-living kitchen. For Juise Box, the competition is another opportunity to show that healthcare and residential dining don’t have to feel institutional.
